Is it Spring yet?
SacredKiln.com has been fortunate enough to have been brought together with Canadian Artisan from Ontario, Louise Ingram. She is a Lampwork artist working in glass. She makes wonderful and fascinating not to mention beautiful glass beads in the form of the Great Mother Goddess. Here are a few words from Louise about her latest works.
"This is a design that has evolved over time - one which I think is quite unique. These Goddess beads have a quality of quiet spiritually about them while also portraying inner strength.
Goddess images appear in many religions and cultures. Sometimes called the Great Mother, this powerful archetype occurs in different forms through the ages and is a universal symbol of fertility, creation, wisdom and new beginnings.
My Goddess beads are made from fire and glass, they are embellished with silver which gives a wonderful organic background for the figure. Each Goddess is different, the shapes vary as do the designs in their bodies." - Louise Ingram
Blessed be,

During the process of making the beads, stress builds up inside the glass which could cause the beads to crack at some point. In order to release this stress all the beads are annealed in a kiln, this means they are kept at a high temperature for a length of time to allow the glass to relax.
